Karanda Goat Project

CURRENT INITATIVES

After the success of the Chicken Project, the Karanda Community Care team has put in place the Goat Project to help empower the community by providing goats to pastors, schools and eligible vulnerable individuals.

Income from goats allows for future prosperity, the ability to pay school fees and a system to pay it forward.

GOAT DISTRIBUTION TO THE VULNERABLE

Karanda Hospital provides milking goats to vulnerable people so they can obtain milk from the goats and breed them to allow for the continuation of the program beyond the life of each individual goat.

Goat projects within the community benefit the hospital through maintainable paybacks in meat.

Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.
— Luke 3:10

GOAT DISTRIBUTION TO PASTORS

Karanda has launched an initiative to provide Pastors with 5 goats over 12 months with the goal that they will pay forward 3 goats to the next pastor.

With initial success from the initial 10 pastors, the project is continuing and has now grown to 3 districts.

GOAT DISTRIBUTION TO SCHOOLS

Karanda is launching the Goat Project for select schools, who will receive 30 goats with no payback required so that they can cover their school fees. Through this program, schools who enroll will be required to keep underprivileged kids who are unable to pay school fees and thus are able to continue their education.

Starting with 4 schools, Karanda will monitor and roll out to the wider community.
